Problem: Client wanted to book a string quartet to recreate a 19th century European ballroom experience; the ask was Victorian dance music, along with a special performance tribute, with dancers celebrating the 25th anniversary of the film “Pride and Prejudice”
Approach: Compiled a setlist of 19th century classical works that we have studied, closely worked the event team on audio needs and logistics, and rehearsed with a choreographer/dancers.
Outcome: Everyone raved about how talented we were and received multiple shout-outs on Instagram and TikTok.
PROBLEM: Client wanted 3 hours of background music for string quartet. Held at Meta Headquarters in SF, they needed us to perform for the reception of the Billion Dollar Roundtable event. As a special request, they asked us to create 6 custom arrangements of Hyphy songs. Hyphy is a sub-genre of Bay Area Hip-Hop from the early aughts that is known for its eclectic production and vibrant cast of emcees.
APPROACH: The partners in the business divided the work and each crafted arrangements to meet the demand. First, we created a 4-hour-long Spotify playlist, studying it by listening to it non-stop for an entire week. Each partner chose our favorite songs and immediately got to work. Two weeks before the event, we met for multiple rehearsals to workshop the arrangements and make sure that captured the essence of Hyphy music.
Outcome: We performed at Meta HQ to roaring applause. We snuck this pick on our way to the stage
Problem: Walmart needed music for their Year Beginning Meeting’s Fashion Show. They needed a quartet that could play live, improvise, arrange string parts to pop music, and look good doing it. That’s where we come in.
Approach: Our client sent us a detailed project brief with the overview of the fashion show. They told us the songs that we would need to play, that we would need to wear Walmart clothing, and that we’d have to fly down to Orlando, FL. We prepared string parts for each of the songs that they gave us. When we arrived in Orlando and conducted our first rehearsal, the songs were different. Undeterred, we quickly adjusted and created a new string arrangement on the fly.
Outcome: Everything came together beautifully! Here’s what it looked like
